When choosing help for weight loss look at everything credentials and experience offers.
So, you are interested in losing weight. Who isn’t, especially with swimsuit season dawning like a bad dream as we speak. You have tried fad diets until you are sick to death of counting calories, avoiding fat, sugar, bread and what ever else the diet hucksters can think to deny you. You are ready for an approach that some might consider even more radical than surgery. You want to try hypnotherapy for weight loss.
Rest assured there is success to be had in this endeavor, but there are many practitioners out there who want your business. Don’t be fast to fork over your hard-earned cash and harder-earned trust on the first coin-waving guy to come along.
There is a world of difference between a hypnotherapist who is a licensed professional and a hypnotist. A hypnotist seeking to treat patients is only distinguished from a Vegas opening act in one qualification: the location of his or her office. Hypnotists usually confine their practice of hypnosis to the stage for the goal of soliciting a laugh or two from the audience.
Hypnotists who claim to be able to treat patients with no additional credentials than the ability to induce a trace should be a red flag to serious seekers of help via hypnotherapy.
Fully licensed and trained hypnotherapists are able to delve into the subconscious brain and uncover hidden motivations to overeating, or any emotional and mental problem. With the roots exposed, healing and overcoming the problems is only a matter of replacing these faulty patterns of thought and emotion with something healthy and worthwhile.
NLP and hypnotherapy
NLP is the tool used to not only lay bare the root problems which cause weight to accumulate and hang on for dear life, but it also removes and replaces these same negative beliefs with new ones. The new thought processes and belief systems are programmed to enhance efforts and guarantee success. This might mean bolstering willpower, or simply reinforcing self-esteem and the belief of an innate ability and right to be thin and happy.
Put it all together with a PhD
It all sounds great: a trained hypnotherapist with licensure and certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), but one look at this so-called guru is scary. They look like they fell off the turnip truck in 1973 and just laid there in the road. They have little to no knowledge about the functions of the human body beyond the subconscious. How can they be trusted to monkey around inside the head?
At this point additional credentials are what separate real therapists from the would-be healers. No one would trust an open heart surgery to the person certified to do electro-cardiogram tests. A PhD is really in order for surgery. Why trust your brain and weight loss to anything less?
