On May 6, 1954 with winds up to 25 miles per hour, Roger Bannister challenged a century old barrier...The 4-Minute mile. He triumphed in 3 min 59.4 sec.
Astonishingly on June 21, John Landy broke Bannister’s record, with a time of 3 min 58 sec. On August 7 at the British Empire Games in Vancouver, B.C., they raced against each other and Bannister won with a time of 3 min 58.8 sec. He beat his own record world record by 0.6 sec but was .8 sec over Landy’s record-breaking time. In fact, within 12 months, 13 others broke Bannister’s record.
Up until Bannister’s achievement, all runners believed that the sub-4 min was just an impossible barrier. You see, Bannister’s record was not just about shorting a few seconds of running time, but it was to “break” our belief. We are now encouraged to reevaluate our own barriers. In other words, our BELIEF controls our behavior.
What if you could break through your limiting beliefs?
You first need to ask yourself if you’re taking the necessary ACTION consistently? When I say action, I mean whatever’s necessary to deliver the results you desire.
The next question, which usually stumps people, is, do you know what stops most people taking the necessary actions?
The answer, plain answer, is limiting Beliefs & FEAR. Fear of failure, fear of success, and fear of what others might think, the list goes on. Fear is one of the three bitter enemies of success, along with indecision and doubt.
